Maximilian feels very honored. He has been selected to hold the solar flame for the next 100 years. Monks tend to get very old, so they are able to hold jobs for well over the century mark. You can't see it, but Maximilian has convinced them to get him a softer cushion for him to sit on. The square pedestal he sits on has carved images of the royal frogs on each side. Maximilian wears a simple monklike robe complete with hood for those colder evenings. His eyes are piercing as he never sleeps, his ears are upright and alert to hear any approaching visitors and his mustache gets longer and longer as the years go on. By the time he is relieved, the mustache may be down to his clawed feet. Maximilian on his pedestal is made of a durable poly resin suitable for outdoors and measures 15" High x 9 3/4" Wide x 11 1/2" Deep. The pedestal and Maximilian are made in a grey stone color while the solar flame has the appearance of white quartz and is 3" High x 2" Wide x 2" Deep. The solar collector/eye rests on top of the back of Maximilian's head. Make sure you put Maximilian where he can get sufficient sun to charge the battery. Depending upon the quality and quantity of sunlight, the LED illumination can last from 4-8 hours each evening. The unit requires 2-AA-NiCd rechargeable batteries that do come included. When Maximilian gets to your house, you will need to turn on the unit by pushing a button located on the bottom. After you have turned the unit on, the light will turn on in the evenings giving the crystal-like flame a soft glow. If you have wanted someone to watch over your garden who won't fall asleep and who carries his own form of soft light for the dark nights - Maximilian may be your man.
