Tioga is an egret always on the go. He walks twice as fast as the other egrets. There are things to do and places to go. He is not just any egret who stands still. He will be on patrol whether you have him on the edge of your water pond or wandering through your gardens. Like any egret, he is found in large and small flocks usually around grazing cattle or wild animals where they pick off ticks and parasites from the other animals. Tioga's color consists of various shades of dark brown with hints of black but the sun will give his protective high gloss finish different looks in the light. When walking he stands 1.2 feet high x 1 foot 8 inches wide and 6 inches deep. He is handwelded in Africa of recycled 55 gallon steel drums by welders and their assistants who are provided with schooling, training, housing, food, and medical benefits. The metal drums are first burnt in order to remove any inner residue and outer color. They are then cut, flattened, and marked with the design prior to being cut. Each assistant then pounds the design into the form before handing it to the welder to be completed. Once the welder has completed the bird or animal, they are checked over by the welder, coated with 2 coats of protective polyurethane and tagged with the welder's name. Even though each bird or animal has a pattern, no 2 birds or animals are identical because each is hand made allowing for the character of the assistant and welder to be included in each striking metal piece. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations made of tin, these are long lasting birds that add elegance to any pond or garden. Tioga is an egret with a mission - to protect your property. He will survey it better than any camera as he will be down at ground level and his associates (brothers) Powellton (the Egret with his foot up) and Horatio (the Standing Egret) are there to assist him.
