The Common Loon is one of the oldest living bird species whose name comes from the Norwegian word that means "wild sad cry". Although they are very clumsy when on the land, they are fantastic divers, high-speed flyers and great underwater swimmers. We believe this Loon Weathervane will make them seem less clumsy while hovering above the ground. The Loon Weathervane is made of handcrafted solid steel. The weathervane itself is coated with a beautiful "copper vein" powder coat finish, for both durability and decoration. There are 4 mounts to choose from: the Roof Mount which is 15" tall and comes with a roof mounting plate which conforms to the pitch of the roof; the Post Mount which measures 15" tall and attaches to any vertical surface (like a deck or fence) with a 3" x 3" mount plate and 4 screws; the Deck Mount which measures 15" tall and attaches to any horizontal surface (like a deck rail or fence top) with a 3" x 3" mounting plate and 4 screws; or the Garden Stake which measures 60" tall and pushes into the ground or may be used with the accompanying ground stake. The ground stake measures 5/16" x 30" and is driven 15" into the ground and the 60" garden mount slides over the top, giving 15" of stability in the ground while allowing the weather vane to retain its full height above the ground. We recommend that you use the ground stake in areas with very hard ground. Please select the mount type from the selection below. The people of Minnesota have already made the loon their state bird, it's your turn to make it the bird of your yard and kingdom.
